I have been working at BWG Foods full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

would be a good place to work if they had a pay structure

    Cons

Want to pay you the same as a man walking off the street with no experience that can only do one job, even though a person that has been there years and is Muti skilled.

    -No career opportunities
    -No pay scale
    -No rewards

    Advice to Management

stop spending a grand to save a euro and reward the staff that deserve it.

I have been working at BWG Foods full-time

    Pros

Fast moving, ever changing, complex organisational structure which allows flexibility in achieving ones goals. Open to new ways of doing things. Some very intelligent operators in the business and many projects to get involved in. Reasonable pay and flexible working conditions once you have proven yourself.

    Cons

Communication is very poor and culture can be aggressive. Decisions are often made without a full understanding of the knock on effects for different departments. Politics often get in the way & silo mentality in many departments. Meetings are often late, longer than required and involve people who are not required.

    Advice to Management

Break down barriers between departments to assist moving from an aggressive email culture to a personal conversation looking for a win win. Decisions impacting ones own KPIs negatively that result in an overall improvement for the company should be encouraged and rewarded. Bonuses for above and beyond achievements.

    Pros

Hard to really think of any real pros to be honest, the culture is generally terrible.

    Cons

Bad pay, bad working conditions, bad atmosphere and involved in a rotten industry overall where the people in power don't seem to have any real empathy for those below.

    Advice to Management

Completely rework the way that the company operates.

I worked at BWG Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fast growing and developing company with exceptionally strong brands including SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE, LONDIS, and Value Centre Cash and Carry's. There is also a strong catering business. That results in plenty of scope to develop not only a career but multiple types of careers. Career advancement is encouraged and often funded by BWG and appropriate courses or degrees are sourced by management for career minded employees. A good relationship between BWG personnel and their customers is the order of things and makes the job more satisfying for both parties. The expertise in BWG has resulted in store design streets ahead of the opposition. Great career company and a pleasure to work for. The hours are not your nine to five but the job satisfaction makes up for it.

    Cons

Too many meetings that take all day that could be summarised in 30 minutes. The less time out developing stores and monitoring sales standards and cash flow issues, the more harm is done.

    Advice to Management

Keep the meetings relevant and short. The money is made out of the office. Keep up the development of the staff as they are the future. A good relationship with a customer is better than wearing a pin stripe suit. Encourage deeper relationships between staff and the retailers as that way you know what's coming up good or bad way before it becomes a problem

  10. "Very fast paced"

    Pros

There are some good ideas and nice people. I got good marketing experience and learnt to work in an extremely fast paced, high pressure environment.

    Cons

Everything is extremely last minute, can't plan any day, you usually spend all day carrying out urgent last minute requests.

    Advice to Management

Plan better, leave more time and don't take on too much. More staff needed for amount of work.
