I worked at BNY Mellon full-time

    Pros

The size of the company lends itself to lots of opportunities to move between departments. Working with smart and driven people. Great Employee Resource Groups.

    Cons

Company is undergoing so many senior management changes and restructures; they are loosing a lot of talent through redundancies or people growing tired of the changes and being over-worked. Less flexibility re work from home/ daily hours than previously. Culture change is muddled.

    Advice to Management

The company needs some stability soon.

I worked at BNY Mellon full-time

    Pros

The people I worked with (non management) were a fantastic bunch.

    Cons

Salary very poor, management both ordinary management and senior management are shocking examples of how not to manage a company. In the time I worked there the company was under 3 different ownerships, they should have wiped the slate clean with management and started a fresh. The HR manager at the time (not the part time manager) had zero people skills or reasoning skills both you would assume would be a given for a HR role. SLA's were unrealistic as the majority of floor staff were never really given any training more just dumped into a roll.

    Resign.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Get to work with some highly flexible and adaptable staff. Nice culture within the team. Local management allow flexibility, depending on your reporting line. Opportunities to work abroad. Lots of involvement in local charities. Benefits are of very good standard. More awareness and focus on work life balance.

    Cons

Pressure from shareholders, leads to constant battle to reduce costs is draining and extremely frustrating on staff. Not sure if there is a long term future for the company in Ireland. What senior management circulate cannot not realistically be implemented in the ops environment. Too much unnecessary red tape to get anything signed off. Compensation and pay seems lower than competitors. Pay scales mean we constantly loose staff, which makes it difficult to build experienced teams.

    Advice to Management

Allow teams to operate as a business with a budget, rather than to headcount cost figures. Would allow a lot more flexibility for local management and to streamline teams to focus on pressure points throughout the ops working day.

    I worked at BNY Mellon

    Pros

    - Smart, reliable, motivated coworkers. - Interesting and challenging work. - Lots of room for self improvement and learning. - Great training. - Good opportunity to get promoted. - Good pension contributions. - Paid healthcare plan

    Cons

    - Work may get repetitive. - The pay is OK. - Too much in-house politics. Eg. Senior management imposing an employment freeze to save money in a particular quarter simply to show their own bosses that they have been able to save money. Meanwhile everybody else has to work overtime to cover the workload. Worst of all, supervisors and managers don't get paid overtime, as a result, the money "saved" is in fact earned on the backs of supervisors and managers who essentially worked for free. If you're applying for a supervisory or above position, make sure to be very aggressive in salary negotiations, a lot of overtime is expected, and unfortunately isn't paid.

    Pros

Good Work Life Balance Friendly Environment Low Stress

    Cons

Unfair Workload Poor Senior Management Little or No Salary Increase for Promotion

    Advice to Management

Cut out middle management, Assess workload of all teams and adjust workload so they are fair in departments. Reduce Townhall Senior Management Meetings as they are pointless currently Increase Pay rises for Internal Promotions is key to success the best staff are promoted and they leave shorty after due poor salary increases. Management at all levels needs to be more transparent, at times the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.

    I worked at BNY Mellon

    Pros

I guess if you have no ambitions and are happy with a weak and useless management this is the company to work for

    Cons

Nobody wants to make a decision. They evem have a word for it. Upwards management. BNY nees twice as many people to do a job. Inefficiency, unwilling to change. Brown nosing employees will make it far but anybody with common sense, a can-do attitude and ideas will hate it there. Senior management is useless

    Advice to Management

Change upper management completely Reward people with ideas and get ridd off the useless brown nosers

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good learning skills. New technologies and innovation under the new management.

    Cons

Work life Balance is missing No respect from the Senior Management to long Term employees Expect full stack coding from an ETL Developer. More stress on your work. No proper guidance to new technology. All are self taught. No Job Guarantee. Mid to Senior employees needs to find another job.

    Advice to Management

Management should recruit more people to handle and remove the stress from the current employees.
