    Pros

I worked at AA as a contractor for two years. Great company. good benefits for employees.

    Cons

I loved working there until my manager changed. That's when things got very tight with limited visibility and lots of micromanagement.

I have been working at American Airlines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I am not sure if there are any pro's to mention. Worst place to work. No support from organization and no support for personal career growth. Especially my team dept is one of the worsts in the complete org.

    Cons

Worst dept to work for. Manager is hypocrite. He says things to us and he pretends like motivating but never impacts in real time. One of the worst worst dept to work with. No cultural values.

    Advice to Management

Please consider listening to your employees and try considering their emotions and try considering to care them.

I worked at American Airlines full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Challenging work Great co-workers Travel benefits Incredibly interesting field to learn about. Projects were exciting and you were allowed to make major decisions if you cared enough to do so. Lots of kind, smart people doing their best.

    Cons

No opportunities for growth Very high workload Incredibly political Management is not at all transparent Bullies go unchecked The culture is going downhill--fast. Leadership says all the right things but then nothing comes of it. Very hierarchical with lots of hoarding of opportunity. You may enjoy it if you're in leadership, but anyone Level 4 and below has a much different experience.

    Advice to Management

You're tone-deaf. Please stop saying one thing and doing another. Your people are too smart and see right through it. Don't say that you're offering early-outs so others can advance and then not advance anyone. You invest so much in employee surveys and then do nothing about it-- your "listening sessions" are ineffective and all talk. Remove toxic people before they ruin entire departments. Reward those who... actually do great work.

I worked at American Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Flight Benefits are nice when you can get on

    Cons

-Minimal advancement without MBA -Routinely offer "3" weeks of vacation, and upon hire you find out you only have 2 weeks of vacation plus a "secret" week your manager will manager. This becomes a problem when you have 4 managers in a 2 year span. -Culture based on optics rather than performance where everyone must stay until AT LEAST 6, but everyone is on Facebook or Yelp after 5

    Advice to Management

Break up the toxic Revenue Management club. They are generally arrogant and cliquish, and they talk about how all their competitors are "stupid". You typically don't call competitors "stupid" when you consistently perform below them.

I have been working at American Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    The flight perks are great

    Cons

They don't have paid paternity leave

    Advice to Management

Give us paid paternity leave, as a matter of corporate social responsibility and taking care of your people so they can take care of the customers so they can take care of the shareholders.
