    Pros

Ability to make great money, live work balance and job security, as AAG is the industry leader.

I have been working at American Advisors Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Income potential isn't capped. Great Culture. The products are amazing and truly help people live a better life. Awesome team spirit. It's sales without the nights and weekends. Management cares about employees.

    Cons

To succeed here, you have to be willing to work harder than most people, and you have to be willing to learn and adapt to the sales process. This is not a place you can clock in and collect a paycheck.

I worked at American Advisors Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

....still thinking about that. Maybe the pay

    Cons

laid-off half of the processors after 5 months. management was all about numbers, didn't look at the realistic picture of the whole process. Promised more job positions would be added and that never happened. Never should have left my previous employer.

I have been working at American Advisors Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Potentially high commission, free training, ability to work from home, 40 hour week.

    Cons

Don't count on making any money your first year. Poor sales management, terrible culture, no interdepartmental communication, loan process is twice as long as competitors due to inefficient company structure. Executives have no idea what is actually going on. Zero accountability for poor performance outside of sales staff.

I worked at American Advisors Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most of the other LOs in the office are good people!!

    Cons

Don’t have a bad month because when you do the quality of your leads diminish tremendously. You are told there is not a bad lead queue but every lead you get just wants the packet of information or is so far away from being able to qualify a 5 second conversation would be able to tell that, all while other people in the office are still putting up great numbers. Either it is terribly bad luck that you take 5 leads during a day and 3 of the 5 owe way too much on their existing mortgage to be able to qualify and the other 2 already have a reverse mortgage making it nearly impossible to refinance that mortgage. Also when you go into “call coaching” let me rephrase that into “call humiliation” you go in and sit with the call coach and I agree it always shouldn’t be roses and lollipops but it shouldn’t be verbal berating and cussing at you to get the point across. Was the most dreaded time of the week. Actually made me feel stupid after leaving that “coaching”. No room for advancement past a team leader and would take 5-6 years to even achieve that if you decided to stay that long. Also, the pay is not good, a small base salary and only 25 bps and a rolling bonus that you would believe the operations department is out to get you because it is hard to consistently close the loans you need month after month to get the rolling bonus with some consistency. Also an extremely niche product many of the people you talk to already have a negative connotation about a reverse mortgage it makes it hard to consistently have the numbers you need to make a living. There are plenty of other places to work in this industry that provide leads like AAG does but without everything else that comes with it. Beware to any applicant that wishes to work here. Have your resume updated at all times!!
