    Contradictions between written and verbal communications. Pressure to hit sometimes arbitrary targets bordering on bullying.

    No pros at all even their discount is cheap students get the same

    Cons

    Terrible place to work in no staff & negative area manager with unrealistic demands

    Lift the ban on taking staff on & realize your managers are over worked & very stressed

    I worked at Alliance Boots for more than 5 years

    Pros

    The best thing about my job was my work colleagues who were fantastic,loyal,friendly,hardworking.I don't miss the stressed work environment however.

    Cons

    Too much responsibility expected of staff,unrealistic targets,overworked,underpayed,dubious management techniques,no matter what you did it was never enough.Given out to in front of customers made to feel belittled on a daily basis.I left because I nearly had a mental breakdown(all work stress related)

    Advice to Management

    Try treating staff with some respect and decency for starters.Care for colleagues and customers,I felt the only thing boots care for are profits,targets etc..

    Pros

    Great training, great network of colleagues when advice needed. Employee discount and yearly bonus also. Opportunities to work in other stores.

    Cons

    Too much emphasis on targets with the aim to increase dispensed items and introduce many new services but lack of staff to cope with demand, constant sense of pressure.

    Advice to Management

    Reassess staffing levels, some managers do not seem to realise the impact lack of staff can have on patient safety, places huge pressure on existing staff.

    Pros

    Secure Job, Work with many different pharmacists, good training, well regulated with SOP's, exposure to different services,

    Cons

    Too many targets. Pharmacists have to book your holidays a year in advance and still may not be guaranteed, head office staff not friendly and a lot of hierarchy in the company, Salary does not reflect the scale of work involved, Managers can be very unprofessional, Pharmacies open until late so long working days, difficult to get time off at short periods, high turn over of staff so constantly training new staff.

    Advice to Management

    Better back up support to allow better allocation of holidays. Stop focusing on targets and let pharmacists do what they do best look after patients, Be more professional, look after your employees,

      If you are willing to give up your self respect and dignity you will be favoured by management and given all the training you want.

      Cons

      Management have a very tight selective clique. If you cant get into the clique then you will be stuck in the same position/role until you leave the company.

      Advice to Management

      Re-do the management course. learn how to manage people and not tell tales to other managers, stop turning the company into a communist state.

      A large corporate with decent peer support and some fantastic individuals that work at various levels. The pharmacist managers, or those with pharmacy background are leaving in droves and the workforce is being de-skilled.
