Not bad, not great.
27 Jan 2021 - Associate Account Manager in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great amenities such a small marketplace with free soda and slushies. Workplace comrades easily became friendly, even when not working in the same department or product. Hours were lenient as well. Great location downtown in Dallas
Cons
First week I was there they went from 5 floors to 4 to save money and then another year later after being partially bought they dropped down to 2. High turnover rate in sales and support leading to difficult conversations with customers and knowledge transfer. Once Covid hit, over 50% of the work staff was laid off or furloughed.

Great Starter Job
15 Mar 2021 - Associate Account Executive in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I took this job after recently graduating college, and it turned out to be a good starter position.
Cons
During the time I was at Active Network, there was high turnover with the leadership team.

Poor leadership, Poor Training, Poor Job Security
8 Feb 2020 - E-Commerce Specialist in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It's a fun location. The office aesthetics are appealing. Nice views. They try to have events to make it a fun place to work.
Cons
The leadership is horrible. Especially if you're looking to grow. They have a very complex and unique way of operating their business and expect you to catch on with very little to no training. My leader was very ineffective at communicating how they wanted projects to be completed. A lot of the managers are remote which doesnt help. This department says it's an entry level position but dont expect to stay with the company for more than a year. They are known for an extremely high turnover rate and tend to lay people off consistently. Also, be careful what you choose to tell your co-workers regarding your personal life or past experience. It has a way of getting around.

It's all about perspective.
18 Nov 2016 - Senior Manager in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you hit the pavement, and get results, promotions and recognition follow suit. No other company can you move up as fast. You'll get to do more than you ever could have anywhere else, which is awesome in terms of experience.
Cons
At times Upper leadership is a bit disenchanted with general employee population morale. At other times they seem completely aware.. Which is almost worse. Very political. High turnover. Lots of managers who probably shouldn't be. :)

Honest Review - 1+ Year Here (I hope this helps)
3 Oct 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The side benefits of Promotive and ActiveGear (good deals on athletic gear, movie tickets and cruises) The Dallas office has an ice cream machine and free drinks Free bagels on Friday morning Some of the technology used is good (lots of Macs) There are great colleagues that care about the work and the clients Pay (NOT benefits) seemed "ok". But I heard they are lowering salaries.
Cons
The company has no "five-year" plan and in the year I've been here there has only been ONE email from the executives. Also, it is common to get yelled out. I haven't been yelled at yet, but I've literally seen leadership at all levels tell people they are F'ing worthless in front of everyone. Cussing and degrading seems to actually be encouraged from the top down. I'm not kidding... Three lay-offs in past year. They also just shutdown the Nashville and Jefferson City offices They DO NOT let you work from home because they are getting a tax break from Dallas that requires people to work at site THIS IS IMPORTANT: The health plan is HORRIBLE and the literature during recruitment is misleading. For a family, it is a 4K deductible. I repeat, $4,000. They offer three different health plans for your pets, but only ONE for you. If you aren't in your 20s and invincible, think long and hard about this. No leadership from top and high turnover. This causes a knowledge management issue. Owned by an investment company and the layoffs look like they are going to chop it up

Highturn over, low growth ceiling
12 Jul 2016 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Benefits are better than your average - Little to no experience needed - Laid back environment
Cons
- No growth opportunities. Most attention is placed on placing more roles on an employee without adding any compensation. Any movement is done sideways and does not provide anywhere for moving up - RRSP is sub-par - No overtime. Provides 'Day in Lieu' instead - Unfair workloads, expects employees to work more for less. - The 'McDonalds' of corporate work - VERY high turnover

A great company to work for...but a company that needs a lot of work.
13 Aug 2008 - Account Executive in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The corporate culture is young, motivated, and active...hence the name. You are surrounded by people who lead an active lifestyle, which in turn keeps you motivated to be active as well. Show me a person who has worked at Active for over 6 months, and I'll show you a person who's training for some type of race. Three days a week, there's a boot-camp-type workout that's available to us - and a good 50 or so people take advantage of it. I would say it's the number one reason employees stay with the company. People call Active a cult, because we all hang out together, work out together, and are constantly talking about our company. Call it a cult, but I call it a lifestyle.
Cons
The company grew really fast, and they promoted people who weren't necessarily right for management. As we all know, a good sales rep does not always equal a good manager. It is a chaotic environment and communication is lacking at best. Training is non-existent and it's really an environment of fight or flight. Employees are not given to tools to succeed - they have to find them on their own. Also, there are several markets within the company that have been developed without the proper market and competitor analysis. Quotas are thrown at sales reps who are not trained or prepared to be successful. They have to research the market on their own - which would be fine if quotas weren't doled out so lackadaisically, and base salaries weren't set so low. There is a lack of structure, which is great for some, but detrimental to others. Active can feel like a revolving door - it's a high turnover company, and everyone is alright with that.

Looking for work in the IT field? Steer clear of this god awful company like the plague.
7 Jun 2014 - Applications SupportRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Everyone I worked with, colleagues, team members, non team members, managers, were all great people. Upper management was the only thing wrong with this company.
Cons
Where do I begin? Abysmal pay rates, tons of after hours work, 24/7 on-call rotations that are not only unpaid - but very aggressive, most of my time with the company was a rotation between myself and another employee, so every other week you are on-call. And you will be called, often, at all hours of the night. You will lose sleep, you will always be on edge worried that the little free time you thought you had that wasn't spent releasing code after hours will also be wasted toward this dead end job... oh and you will NEVER be rewarded for any of it. I worked at this company for six years, why I stayed with them I have no idea. Essentially I committed career suicide by staying with them so long, picking up completely useless skills working on awful products that had all that code your college professors told you that should never be written. I never once got a raise of anything more than 1 or 2 percent of my total salary (even though I was voted as most valuable member of my team and the quarterly "shining star" on numerous occasions). I was always strung along and made to believe that advancement for me within the company was just around the corner. Well that never came, they shut down our entire office after being acquired by some company and they basically just let all of us go with zero warning and a laughable severance package. That was my reward for years upon years of hard work in which I was always constantly praised for... work that included many months of spending at least one day a week staying up all night after working all day having to either release some bullcrap emergency patch, or work on some critical issue causing some sort of outage. During my time there I saw a very high turnover rate in the IT and development department. Most of development is now outsourced and most IT members had far better foresight than I did and got out of this company after less than a year working there, considering the laughable pay and incredibly high demand of what they ask of you. It is such a mismanaged company on so many different levels. Back when I joined in 2008, it took them over TWO WEEKS to get me access to even use the system, so I just came into work, asked around trying to figure out anything to do, and no one ever had anything for me other than to just "shadow" other team members. So I literally came in there for two weeks and just watched people awkwardly and got paid for it. My direct manager didn't even know that our office was being laid off, and they don't even have a team to support certain products now because one of the local coworkers and I were the only people that knew how many of the applications functioned, and we were the only ones that knew how to support those products. I'm still getting called by the company after they already laid me off from people freaking out not knowing what to do because no one is around to support the applications they are assigned to on phone support. Well it's their problem now unfortunately, wish I could help ya guys but the genius upper management I guess just wants to let the products (which even though they sucked, were actually highly profitable) go to crap. Don't ever work here. No matter how bad you are hurting for a job, it just isn't worth it. I got paid horribly and all I got for all my hard work at this company was an anxiety disorder and an abrupt and cowardly office closure. This company is an absolute joke.

ACTIVE is a fun, fast paced and ever changing workplace
28 Oct 2013 - Account Executive in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great focus on giving back to the community and challenging yourself both in work and physically with company races and events.
Cons
ACTIVE has high turnover and with that, comes lots of regular change. Expectations change often so at times you are working towards a moving target.

Pros
Worked with some very smart and dedicated people, but the company is heading in the wrong direction. Used to be good!
Cons
See above -- the company is heading in the wrong direction. High turnover without replacing the tenured employees that are leaving = brain drain, decreasing quality of people and product.
