For the last fortnight, Phorest has hosted a Teen Turn Intern, Aoife. The following is a synopsis of Aoife's time with us. Thank you Aoife for all of your hard work :)
"I decided to participate in this programme to see if a job in STEM was something I would consider in the future. I am especially interested in app development, which is something Phorest specialises in.
On my first day in Phorest, I was slightly nervous but was put at ease by my new colleagues who were friendly and open. I was expecting to be sent on coffee runs (as I heard most interns are!) but this wasn’t the case; from the start, I was immersed in the company’s work and encouraged to share my input. I was shown all aspects of the business from app development to coding to marketing and tech support. I loved the experience and got a well-rounded view of the tech industry as a whole.
Overall, this experience was of massive benefit to me and I have decided that a career in STEM is something I will pursue after school. I would 100% recommend interning at Phorest to anyone considering a career in STEM."

I have been working at Phorest Salon Software full-time (More than 3 years)
Phorest has been by far the most positive working experience I've ever had. They are very interested in finding your strengths and helping you to work in areas that you are well suited to and that you enjoy. The company is also always expanding and so there are plenty of opportunities to progress and gain experience in a number of different areas. I started working on the support team and was interested in pursuing software development. The company were extremely supportive of me and were very open to offering me opportunities to gain experience in this field. I have since moved to the development team, where I am always learning new things and continuously being challenged.
There is no micro-management, which allows you to work on creative solutions. There is a great environment, which provides lots of encouragement to to learn and improve. There are regular talks/ meetups held relating to different technologies and best practices in development, so that you can keep up to date.
There is an emphasis on communication between all teams and all employees are encouraged to share their ideas. Phorest offers a very positive working environment and I would recommend them to all.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Phorest Salon Software (Dublin, Co. Dublin) in October 2016.
My interview experience with Phorest was quite long and drawn out by comparison to other previous interviews I had attended. The process in total took about 2 months, which at the time was stressful as I was working full time in a company which was at the height of its busy season, as you can imagine slipping away for multiple interviews was going to be a challenge in itself.
The guys at Phorest were SO accommodating when it came to arranging my interviews - be it early morning or late evening, nothing was too big an ask.

I realise now that this relatively time-consuming interview process is why Phorest attracts, hires and sustains such a great workforce. It will become a little frustrating towards the end...but stick with it - it will be totally worth it ;)
