Can’t keep people because the managers can’t run the company. Managers are not developed, people want training and development and there are no opportunities for it. Germany dictates everything and they have no idea how to run a company that is in Silicon Valley, they don’t get how different it is here. Many people leave because they have great ideas, but they are so stifled in being creative and nothing comes to fruition. Then they move on the Apple and Google.
Advice to Management
Daimler needs to have less control, needs less German management, fix HR problems (can’t ever keep HR people), develop managers. And get rid of the current CEO.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America.
Found open position online, applied via e-mail, got email back after a couple of days with the info that application is reviewed, got another email from the hiring manager with the invitation for an interview, went through interview (very open question and answer discussion about the open position and about the aspects from my resume the manager found interesting for the position), got call from HR responsible (very friendly and helpful person who explained the needed paperwork, answered questions, agreed on salary, etc...), offer letter about 1-2 months before start date.
