    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hays (Dublin, Co. Dublin).

    Interview

1st round : Phone Interview. Have a clear understanding of Hays and the role of a recruitment consultant.

2nd round : Interview with two managers. Again have a very clear understanding of Hays and the role you are interviewing for. They will test you with a mock business development call. Basically a cold call which you need to prepare in advance.

3rd round : Group interview with 4 parts to it. 1st is a 2 minute presentation to a new client. 2nd is a mock phone call. 3rd is writing up a job description. 4th is selling a candidate to a client. You will be sent an email with an info pack 24 hours before the assessment day. Make sure you prepare fully in advanced.

Top tips for the perfect telephone interview

On the contrary, your telephone interview performance will likely dictate whether or not you are invited in for an interview or in some cases, offered the job.

  • A deceptively difficult question to answer in an interview, here's how to impress your interviewer with your answer:

"Why do you want this job?"

It's one of the most common interview questions, and often one of the easiest to slip up on. On the face of it, the interviewer is simply asking "Why are you sat across from me in the interview room today?"
