The Virtuous Cycle:
Today, organizational growth and success requires that you provide world-class experiences for both your customers and workers. Yet too often, legacy systems and processes along with the antiquated way traditional service partners work, makes transforming those experiences an overwhelming challenge — resulting in getting stuck and settling for the status quo. Appirio delivers a different experience. Our free-thinking consultants — many of whom are practitioners themselves — challenge conventional thinking to lead your organization in the creation of next-generation Worker and Customer Experience by first creating actionable strategies to deliver results quickly, and then helping you adapt to a new experience-driven era over time.
We believe Worker and Customer Experience are intrinsically linked and must be addressed together. By leveraging cloud technology, new ways of working like crowdsourcing, and using solution accelerators to rapidly build and integrate solutions, customers can create both amazing Worker and Customer Experiences that drive profitability and growth.

Kimberly Heger, Sr. Director Change & Culture
Kim spent the first 14 years of her career in corporate HR roles, starting in career development, talent acquisition, employee relations, wellness, and then learning and development. Her focus has always been on the people side of the business. In 2007, she left Corporate America to join a boutique consulting firm called Knowledge Infusion, and leveraged her background in HR to help organizations develop Talent Management strategies with an emphasis on people, process, and technology. In 2012, Appirio acquired Knowledge Infusion and thus her Appirio adventure had begun. She had many successful years in a new practice called Change Enablement, that focused on developing change management strategies and plans to ensure the successful adoption of new ways of working. After building a successful practice and team of 20+ consultants, she wanted to do something different. With the acquisition, a new position was created which Kim stepped into as our Sr. Director of Culture & Change!
Sherria Reid, Sales Manager
Sherria Reid has an educational background in Computer Science and Public Health where her dream was to become a pediatric cardiologist. Although that was the goal, she started her career in telecommunications at Nortel in a hybrid engineering and sales manager role. When Nortel was acquired and Sherria was laid off, she took advantage of the opportunity by taking a four month sabbatical where she then got engaged and went on a lengthy vacation. What a great time! She then went on and spent ten years at a small, private software and services company called RWD. For a decade, she worked hand-in-hand with the SAP education and quality risk mitigation in a variety of roles including: pre-sales engineer, channel manager and a direct sales manager. Sherria started with Appirio in March 2017 and ultimately chose Appirio because of the culture and transparency. She was truly looking for a honest employer and after being referred by an old co-worker, she gave it a try. With all her years surfing through Glassdoor, she never saw a higher approval rating for a CEO. In order to truly understand how Chris Barbin obtained such a high approval rating she asked him directly. He shared it was his transparent and appreciative attitude he continually strives to demonstrate to all Appirians..

She started her Workday experience with update 8, which is now up to the 28th update. Rowena has been at Appirio for 6 and a half years being one of the first functional Workday HCM consultants. Today she is focused on the data architect and data conversion aspect of implementations.
I have been working at Appirio full-time (More than 3 years)
When I joined Appirio, I had been working at other consultancies and thought to myself that it will be the same type of thing, just with a different label. While cynical at first, the company has proved me wrong.
Firstly, the culture is fantastic. I have never worked at an organisation where there is so much trust. I've personally never been micromanaged and I have the choice to work at home or in the office. Though ultimately, we work where it will be best for our clients. The office itself is open plan and in a WeWork office in London. It's not stuffy, it's laid back and there are loads of perks like snacks and drinks, pub nights, pizza meetings and breakfasts.
Second is the tools. You are given the tools to work from anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. The ease of connecting to the company systems is fantastic as all the company systems are cloud based. You get the choice of a new Macbook Pro or Dell laptop, screen for your home office and a phone (if needed). It's probably been the only company that I've worked at where I haven't received the cheapest option from the hardware supplier! Appirio also have great IT support - just create a ticket and it's all logged in Salesforce. Full transparency of where your request is and no having to wait on the end of a phone line listening to dodgy hold music.
Third is the knowledge sharing and support. I had previously worked at companies that had aspired to be at the level of knowledge sharing that Appirio is at. There are Centre of Excellence groups for various clouds and systems that you consult in or have an interest in. You can participate in these to receive help or offer help to other employees. These networks are worldwide as well, which is important so regional silos are not created. We have a library of re-usable assets so that we do not have recreate everything from scratch each time there is a new project. Then, there is a the fabulous discussions email group. Anyone can email this if they are seeking help and anyone from the newest graduate recruit, to an MVP or the CEO could respond!
Career wise, it was one of the best decisions I made. Appirio has given me the opportunity to grow my career, support to take all the certifications I want and work on lots of interesting projects.
It's not without the normal challenges that go with a consulting career. At times, you're expected to go above and beyond, work late nights or weekends to get things done. You need to be able to travel. You need to be able to travel at short notice too! But...this is a fairly common issue with any consulting or project-based type job.
If you see yourself as an "all-rounder" in terms of PM, technical and BA skills, it's a little hard to apply this within Appirio's method of working using the Appirio Way. The roles and responsibilities are very defined between all the roles and it's difficult to switch from one to the other.
Advice to Management
After the acquisition, there was uncertainty that processes, culture and tools would change for the worst. So far this hasn't happened so please keep it that way!
I applied online. The process took 5+ weeks. I interviewed at Appirio (Indianapolis, IN (US)) in March 2018.
The interview process took well over a month, but it was very organized. Expect phone or video interviews with a recruiter, a culture fit interview, a technical competency interview, and likely an interview with the hiring manager. After the remote interviews, I was offered an opportunity to visit the Indianapolis office for a round of four in-person interviews. This was a great opportunity as it gave me the chance to get a better understanding of the company culture.
Overall, a positive interview process, but it went a little longer than expected. I can see the potential to lose qualified candidates who are looking for a quicker process.
