Lecturer Interview Questions
The role of a lecturer includes explaining concepts and theories to students while ensuring that the students understand the material and are making progress towards their academic goals. Prepare to answer questions that will assess your communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts.
Top Lecturer Interview Questions & How To Answer
Here are three top lecturer interview questions and tips on how to answer them:
Question No. 1: How will you make sure that you are meeting student expectations?
How to answer: An excellent lecturer does not just meet the expectations of their employer, but they also have to meet the expectations of their students. Failure to live up to student expectations can lead to students becoming disengaged with the class. Assure the interviewer that you will issue a student survey at the beginning of the semester to get an idea of student interests and academic needs and that you will maintain open communication throughout the semester.
Question No. 2: How will you help students who don't seem to have a grasp of the material?
How to answer: This question allows you to demonstrate your interpersonal skills and your ability to adapt your lectures to meet the needs of all of your students. Let the interviewer know that you are always available for one-on-one conversations with your students when necessary. Provide examples of how you have adapted lectures to make them more relatable.
Question No. 3: How do you track student progress?
How to answer: The interviewer wants to know how you test your students to make sure they are comprehending the material. Provide examples of how you test your students and how you give feedback.

I was similarly asked very personal questions that were irrelevant to the position and that would have been illegal elsewhere. Specifically, was explicitly discriminated against for not being married or being in a relationship. Less

Are you ready to sign a 3 year bond at limited salary? How do you expect us to believe that your loyalty will lie with AIUB? Why don't you have a PhD?

It depends on the other benefits. Loyalty cuts both way; I think it is a tiny bit unfair to expect loyalty from a candidate who is in the process of job seeking, when the organization itself has not made a decision to choose her/him out of all the other candidates, but once appointed, I will be able to prove my worth. I believe that the ability to teach should not be judged only based on higher level of education; what good is a useless PhD if it can't translate to knowledge base for the next generation; I feel that I have taught enough MBA students to know how they function and I am affirmative that I can perform as a lecturer regardless of a PhD because I emphasize a great deal on self learning.
