What is the difference between String and System.Text.StringBuilder?

1 Answers

A string instance is immutable. You cannot change it after it was created. Any operation that appears to change the string instead returns a new instance. When you need a mutable string, such as one you're contructing piece-wise or where you change lots of things, then you'll need a StringBuilder which is a buffer of characters that can be changed. (two papers full of ruby codes) What is the purpose of these ruby codes and explain each line?

1 Answers

I'm sorry you had a negative experience interviewing with us. As a fast-paced technology company, we need to keep abreast of the latest technologies and innovations to serve our client needs. This requires our developers to be able to learn and pick up new technologies fairly quickly. We clarified in the interview that for all the code samples we showed you, we were not looking for the perfect answer or even "an" answer, that was not the expectation. We were looking at how you would attempt to read and interpret code, even if it's not a language you are familiar with as a gauge of your problem-solving skills. We'd like to point out that you were only provided a single Ruby code snippet to look at along with code snippets in other languages which you did have listed on your resume and as such should have been at least vaguely familiar with. The job was advertised as a Junior to Mid Level developer position and you did not clarify your payscale expectations in spite of us asking you on several occasions before and during the interview. We're sorry we were not a good fit for you and we wish you the best in your future endeavors. Less

Explain what is Denormalization and why would you use that?

1 Answers

Denormalization is a strategy used on a previously-normalized database to increase performance. In computing, denormalization is the process of trying to improve the read performance of a database, at the expense of losing some write performance, by adding redundant copies of data or by grouping data.
