By being patient and let him explains his problem and try to solve it as soon as I make sure and it will not be repeated in the future

I think both are right, and a combination of them would be the best way to handle an angry customer. Note i did not understand the question requirements at first until i made the wrong choice for both of them.

Let customer talk first try to understand his problems then find out the possible solution for the customer problems

by being patient and letting him just express his feelings without any interruptions, and try to find a fast solution by escalating the issue to higher management.
