Most of the questions relate to your design skills and previous experience. The only question that I was completely thrown off by was "are you planning on having children?" The interviewer asked this in a casual way when asking other 'get to know you' questions, but I immediately was alarmed that it was asked.

4 Answers

Due to laws of discrimination in the workforce in the US, asking that question, if you plan on having children is 100% illegal to ask. Less

I answered honestly and told the interviewer that children were in my future but not immediately. Less

That’s an odd question to ask in an interview, I didn’t even think they were allowed to ask such questions due to discrimination laws. Less

How would you describe RAM to a 70 year old man?

3 Answers

saheli, sorry, but the response you made is kind of lame. Anyway I would explain it as this: 'Well, imagine you were in an exam. You have an exam sheet, and some scrap paper you do calculations on. While it could be hard to solve a task just by looking at the sheet, using scrap paper to calculate the answer will help you alot. More scrap paper helps you do better. that's why computers with more RAM work better.' Less

I compare/contrast with the hard drive, which is usually easier to grasp. I use a filing cabinet / desk space analogy. The hard drive is like a filing cabinet where you permanently keep your documents, and RAM is like your desk space where you have just the papers that you're currently working on. Then I connect it to practical use by explaining how RAM improves speed & multitasking, why the computer will be slow if it doesn't have enough RAM for the task, etc. Less

like u hv ur memory, computer itself has its own memory. It is a temporal memory nd it get erased as soon as we unplugg the c.p.u or switch the computer off. this memory can be read and write too. Less

Tell me about a management style that you find difficult or challenging to work with, and why, as well as how you worked around the challenge...

I don’t find any management style difficult. What I find difficult is lack of consistency in defining work tasks and requests and inconsistency in reactions on work performance and results. Less

Micromanagement. This answer may have killed my hiring chances, since the person who asked this question (I later found out) is the "Queen of Micromanagement". Less
