      Graduate Automotive Engineer Interview

      17 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pangbourne, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at bp (Pangbourne, England) in Dec 2019

      Interview

Applied online through the company page. Standard graduate recruitment process of a lengthy application before being followed by Situational judgement questionnaire, aptitude tests and a phone interview before the 1-1 technical interview. Technical interview itself was tough, the interviewer kept interrupting although he told me to voice my thought process which was quite distracting.

      Graduate Automotive Engineer Interview

      27 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Oxford, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at bp (Oxford, England) in Mar 2020

      Interview

I completed an online situational judgment questionnaire, followed by a verbal and numerical assessment, and then a technical interview. The interviewers were two individuals, one from the same field I was applying for and one from another field. Interestingly one of them did try to ask mean questions (which I did answer) but the other interviewer pulled them up on it.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They started by asking for examples of what I did when faced with a challenge. One point of interest was that because I used my most recent work experience in my answer when it came to the technical questions they didn't want to hear about the same work experience, so I had to describe technical aspects of a project I did over 3 years before (quite a challenge to remember). Make sure you have different examples to refer to in your technical and experience-based questions. Otherwise, the questions others have listed on glassdoor all featured. They have a tick list going through the questions so expect them all.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pangbourne, England

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at bp (Pangbourne, England) in Nov 2018

      Interview

I interviewed at Pangbourne after completing a competancy telephone interview, a variety of online tests and a situational judgement questionnaire. The technical interview was mostly based around understanding fundamental automotive engineering principals, as opposed to general questions about my career or my CV. Although I was unsuccesful, I found the process very profesionnally handled - BP were very accomodating and were able to postpone my interview by two weeks, allowing me to continue with prior commitments.
