You are taking a test and one of the questions has been smudged so it is not legible, based on the answers alone, what has to be the correct answer: A. all of the below B. none of the below C. all of the above D. one of the above E. none of the above F. none of the above

Maybe I'm having a bad day, but I don't get why F. is the answer.

I believe it's E, not F. If A is true, B has to be true - contradiction. If B is true, D is also true - contradiction. If C is true, A and B have to be true, but they are not. D can't be true because we already ruled out all of those above D. (skip E) F can't be true because E would also be true, which contradicts F. (back to E) E may be true because we did rule out all of the above. And if E is true then F is false, which is also consistent.

This is incorrect. E only states that the letters above are incorrect, but does not disprove F. Thus, E also includes F as a true statement. However, F disproves the truth of E. Therefore the only answer does that is not contradicted by anything else is F.

If E is true, then F must be false because E is above F, so it does disprove F. And if F is true then E must also be true, but that contradicts F, so F cannot be true.

Meyer. Believe whatever you want. This is a trick question to see how your brain works. However, E only states "none of the above." This means that A-D are incorrect, but in no way does E reference F. It does not state "none of the the above or below," but just "none of the above." This means that F is still a possibility in a world where E is the correct answer. But if F is a possibility, E cannot be true. However, F also only states "none of the above." This includes A-E. If you don't know what the question is, the only answer that is not contradicted is F. F is different than E, because F has one conclusive answer where E has two possible answers. That being said, don't think into this too much. Epic is a really lame company. You probably shouldn't bother with the application.

E doesn't say anything directly about F, but F says something about E. Namely, F asserts that E is false. If E is true, then we know that F is wrong. This is precisely the type of logic that a question like this attempts to evaluate. I said "I believe" to be polite. E is indeed the correct answer.

As for not bothering with the application, it's too late for that. The only turnoff for me is their Cache/MUMPS/VB6 stack, but I have a high tolerance for pain if the money is good. :)

I see that the answer is f

Glassdoor reformatted the question layout. You need to imagine that the answers are written vertically (A is on top, B is beneath A, C is beneath B, and so on...). Then you must go through the answers logically. A (all of the below) cannot be correct because B is below A, and B states that none of the below are correct. This is a contradiction. B (none of the below) cannot be true, because, if it was, than A would be true and we just disproved that. C (all of the above) cannot be true, because neither A nor B is true. D (one of the above) cannot be true, because neither A, B, nor C is true. E (none of the above) is not correct, because this mean that F (none of the above) is also true. This would be yet another contradiction. Therefore, the only correct answer could be F (none of the above).
