I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Dublin, Dublin) in Jun 2021

Interview

I applied online, about one week later I was contacted by a recruiter. I had a 10-minute call and discussed the expected salary and how the interview stages would be broke up. The interview process consisted of six interviews (not as bad as you may think) 1) Manager interview to discuss the product and what the role would be about. Very casual and more of a discussion of why they thought I would fit the role. 2) Portfolio review of two projects with two product designers and one information architect. 3) Interview with frontend senior engineer. Didn't discuss anything about code instead it was about the VIBE check, which workday do to see if you are a good fit for the company and its culture. 4) Interview with a project manager around experience working with project managers and how I would work with one (had no previous experience but she was very understanding and ask me to answer hypothetically) 5) Interview with Product designer more of a meet and greet to get to know each other (very relaxed) 6) Final portfolio presentation of two of my projects with a Q&A at the end. The interview was with eight senior stakeholders. Overall the whole process was very quick and very friendly, everyone was interested in the interview process and seemed intrigued by what I had to say. Interviews varied between people based in the US and Ireland so some interviews were in the evening after 6:00 pm Irish time.

Interview

What appeared to be a great opportunity and extremely well matched to my background and experience, once again, was not even engaged or contacted by Workday recruiters. I even proactively connected and contacted the hiring manager from a post on LinkedIn. Received a response to from the hiring manager to talk the next day only to be completely stone walled. Workday's recruiting experience is one of the worst I've seen in the technology industry. As a hiring manager myself, at least have the courtesy to respond to potential candidates. You're an ambassador to your company and are a reflection of your company's leadership.

I applied through an employee referral I interviewed at Workday (Dublin, Dublin) in Oct 2021

Interview

I would still encourage anyone to apply to workday but I had a negative experience with the workday recruiter. First was a 30 minute screening interview with the recruiter. Let them know I was only beginning interview prep and would need a bit more time for the technical questions. Secondly an interview with a hiring manager. I was given reassurances this would not be technical but just based on past experience. The questions were not particularly hard eg how to detect/prevent deadlocks but it threw me off and I didn't perform well. I was then offered to interview for a different position. The interview this time with the team manager and was just based on previous experience. I only learnt during the interview that the majority of the team was based in Pleasanton and the daily standups were held at 7pm. The tech stack was also very old compared to the job I actually applied for. 50% of their time was spent coding in their own internal programming language which I deliberately wanted to avoid when applying. At this point I really should have said I wasn't interested anymore. Thirdly there was was a coding exercise to complete online by yourself within 90 minutes. The exercise consisted of finding your way through a maze, represented as a 2d array. You start top left and the exit is bottom right. You can only move down and right. Before the final interview round I got some info from the recruiter on what to expect. The information was very general and didn't give me much to focus on. I asked would there be any questions on system design/architecture. Their answer was there could be and since I had a week to prepare, I might as well just cover everything. I gave my availability for the interview and received times outside of my availability. One interview from 8-9pm. I should have really rescheduled so this is on me but really not a good sign even asking someone to interview at this time. Final round of interviews consisted of 5 interviews. 4 45 minute tech interviews and 1 with the team manager's manager. - API design challenge. Very basic. Given dog resource and expected to know the proper request get/post/put.. - Tech leads conversation X2. Mostly focused on talking about my background and diving into some of the technical aspects. - Coding exercise. Given a number of linked lists which are ordered, merge into one ordered linked list. - Competency/Behavioral based interview with manager. Questions you could expect like how you resolve conflict, what you are looking for with this job, time you inspired others within your team... I was a bit surprised when I didn't receive an offer. The feedback was basically that I didn't do well enough in one interview but performed very well on the others. This was an interview scheduled from 8-9 pm, I brought this up previous to the decision and they said yes this wasn't good and they would take this into account and wouldn't base the decision on this interview alone.

Interview

Very inhuman process. Got contacted by a screening recruiter pretty quickly for a next call. Interview got changed to a manager that had no link with the role whatsoever. Barely asked any question as it seemed he had made up his mind even before the interview. And then got feedback on aspects that didn’t match the interview. All in all a waste of time.

Not an easy process, mostly need an in of some kind. Typical HR preliminary interview. Sales manager spoke briefly. Not a lot of details to provide here. Seemed to have a lot of applicants for the position.

The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Dublin, Dublin)

Interview

After initial screening call was done, there was HM round and then an interview with multiple interviewers who joined the call one after other. My preference of time slots for interview, though it fit well within the standard office hours was always pushed back, which was totally opposite of what was mentioned by them in the interview time confirmation email. They had mentioned in the email requesting my availability that the interviews can be completed together, or spread out over a couple of days depending on my availability and your preference. But what they did was totally opposite of that. After the last round, I had to follow up for the feedback multiple times as I hadn't got any feedback for a long time. I did not get any detailed feedback on email or on call even through I had reached till final round of interview. In short, my candidate experience was not as what they claim they have.

It was a very relaxed interview. They asked about any previous projects that I had in college or outside. They wanted me to explain what the projects did and what I would have done differently to make the projects better.

Simple and Pleasant. Met with the recruiter after applying online. Then met with the hiring manager. Both were very nice and pleasant. Had some audio problems on the manager's side which led to me talking over them in advertently.

Interview

The process is grueling, especially if applying for multiple positions. From what I’ve seen, the earlier rounds are softballs, and in contrast the expectations set in the panel interviews (4-6 back-to-back sessions, 4-5 hours total) are quite frankly absurd. Without getting into detail due to NDA, be sure to practice LeetCode. Also be sure that (if you have a job) you have several hours to take off work, as this whole process takes quite a long time on the phone/Zoom.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Workday in Sep 2021

Interview

I've no doubt that Workday is a great company to work for but their interview process let them down. Interviews: - Phone interview - Take home assessment Standard competency-based questions for the phone screen. The take-home test was relatively straightforward. Use React to grab some data from an API and write some tests. Thought I did a pretty decent assessment. Was completely ghosted after this stage. No response either way. A simple follow-up email would have been sufficient stating why my application was not progressed. I get that recruitment is busy right now but I would expect a follow-up given that I was a few stages into the process.
