      Interview

Quick call with a recruiter and then two separate interviews with hiring managers. All went really well and then was selected for a panel presentation. The prompts weren’t too bad but it was difficult to memorize all required content prior to the panel

      I interviewed at Workday

      Interview

Let's go over the full history with Workday. This has been a two year experience of being led down a path to nowhere. I was initially contacted by a recruiter to apply for a position. I had several conversations with the recruiter and with her manager before I was passed along to the hiring manager. I had a phone call with him, then follow up calls with the recruiters. Then the hiring manager wanted me to speak with members of his team and do a follow up call with him afterwards. Which I did. SILENCE. For the following four months I would reach out to the manager and be told "we're in a holding pattern" or "we'll get back to you". Then they reach out and ask me to come to the Pleasanton location with three days notice. Which I did, even though they let me sit for months then expected me to come on demand like a dog. For the in person interview, I spoke with members of the team (some new, some I'd spoken with before), spoke with the manager's boss and the hiring manager himself. By the time I left the in-person interview, we'd discussed start dates, benefits and I felt like I had the offer. A week later, I get the email "We liked you but we need an individual who's done the role before". I feel like that's something you probably know before leading me on for 6 months but okay. Fine. Almost two years later, I'm contacted by the same manager that they have another opening on the team. They all remember me, they really liked me and want me to come on board. No jumping through hoops, and it'd be a "fast track" process. He hadn't started to recruit anyone and he was reaching out to me first. I tell him I'm interested, get the job posting, he expresses he's glad I'm still interested, I apply and I wait. SILENCE. A month later, the job posting is then removed, and I get an automated "no thank you" from their system. I email the manager twice, no response. His email didn't bounce back but it's been a few months so I'm confident that a) the man is still with Workday and b) it's clear that he ghosted me for a position he reached out to me to discuss. Couldn't even give me the courtesy of saying "My bad, we went another way". For as much as Workday hypes up how wonderful an employer they are with their goal of having happy customers and happy employees, it treats their applicants in a shameful way void of any basic decency.
