      Social Media Strategist Interview

      27 Jan 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Harrisburg, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at WebFX (Harrisburg, PA) in Nov 2019

      Interview

LONG. Their CEO reached out to me on LinkedIn over the summer and encouraged me to apply. I was put in contact with one of their recruiting coordinators and received more information on the position. It was only August so I was not ready to apply for jobs yet, but I was definitely interested. WebFX was coming to my school's career fair in September so I decided to go and talk to them again to put names to faces. I was asked to begin the interview process on the spot. I applied online and had a screening call with a recruiter. I then had to complete a Google form asking me a series of questions within 24 hours. About a week later I got an email asking to schedule an in-person interview at their Harrisburg location. I interviewed in October with one of their recruiters. Upon arrival, I was given a tour of the building. The interview was mostly a conversation for the recruiter to get to know me better. At the end, I was required to take a few quizzes to determine my problem solving and grammatical skills. They were SAT-styled questions and I was not informed that I would be doing this prior to the interview. It lasted around 2 hours and I felt fairly confident in all of my answers and felt as though that I would make a good fit culturally and with my previous experience. Less than a week later I received an email to schedule a second in-person interview. I also had to complete a few online personality tests and email the recruiter my results. For the third interview, I met with the HR coordinator and the head of Internet Marketing. A senior member was supposed to be in the interview as well, but decided to work from home that day so she had to Skype in. It was super awkward and distracting having her just sit on the screen and I never knew who to face when I was speaking. I also had to prepare a presentation about my key values. After about 45 minutes of questions, another team member came into the room. Many of the questions I was asked were repeats (or very similar) from my first interview. They also asked a few questionable things about my boyfriend and personal life. The HR coordinator ended the question portion pretty abruptly and never gave me time to ask her questions. I then shadowed a team member for about 15-20 minutes. It felt pretty rushed and I didn't have time to digest everything she showed me. The team member escorted me to the entrance without explaining any next steps. I left feeling a little confused and rushed. My last interview was in November and I still have not heard back since my follow up email after the interview. I reached out in December to see if there was anything else they needed from me and it took 4 days for the HR coordinator to reply. She said they were finishing conversations with other qualified candidates and I would hear back very soon. It has been over a month and a half since that reply and I still have not heard anything back. At this point I am just assuming that I have not gotten the position, which is fine because I would rather work for a company that respects my time. They ask a lot out of their candidates. The least they could do is get back to them in a timely manner. It is pretty unprofessional to leave candidates in the dark like that.
