I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at VIPKid (Waynesville, NC) in Dec 2016
Interview
I Did a short mock class with a friendly and encouraging Chinese employee. Upon passing that I moved on to prepare for another more in depth with a native English speaker Most applicants undergo one more mock class after this. . Pleasant process. There is still a learning curve. Applicants need good Internet connection as this is imperative for success .
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you willing to work the necessary hours and do you have a teaching certificate
Got hired as a British speaking then cancelled as not from America which I disclosed at the first interview which I think was silly and unprofessional at the time it was during covid when this happpened.
Very lenghthy interview process, but the interviewers were nice and helpful. There were several steps to the process and it was pretty involved. I had to prepare a lesson beforehand
It was easy an straightforward. 1 interview and 2 mock classes to pass. They offer a contract for a year with option to renew after 1st contract is over. Overall the process last for about 2 weeks from the time you apply unless you are waitlisted.
