Department of Veteran Affairs has several social work jobs posted that “allows telehealth” but isn’t remote. Does anyone know what exactly this means? I’ve speculated but am not sure.

My guess is that you would be working from the office, but you would see clients via Zoom or some other secure platform so that they didn't have to come in to the office?

Went well, was fair, and I enjoyed my time. They were friendly and helped me through their process. They had to repeat the question a few times but did not take away from the experience.

Can someone provide suggestions on how to crack a Fed job in Canada in CS ( Computer Science) domain. I was interviewed for CS-02 level for Veterans Affairs Canada and even cleared all the interview rounds. But then they say you have been added to a pool. If there is a position available they will reach out. Then why would they post a job if the position is not available, just wasting everyone's time, considering how ridiculous the application process is for fed jobs.

A pool means that you have been deemed qualified for positions at that level. The initial job posting should have specified that. It's not so bad. That means if you see a specific position open up at the CS-2 level, you can say that you are in a pool and they can go straight to hiring you. You can also reach out to managers of departments, let them know that you are in a pool. That way, they don't have to interview you again and can go straight to giving a letter of offer.

Interview was quick, but they didn’t give scheduling options. Said I had to do it the day after I called. They due followup with references. Process is slow, but better than it used to be with hearing back.

Lengthy and a lot of waiting between interview and offer - lots of bureaucracy and a convoluted background check - took over 3 months from first interview to offer .

I applied online. I interviewed at US Department of Veterans Affairs (Temple, TX) in Sept 2023

Interview

3-person panel interview, asked approx 5-8 performance-based interview questions. Would be very difficult if not prepared, but the VA offers NUMEROUS sample questions online and they match the questions I was asked. Come prepared to highlight your experience with actual stories - Situation, Action, Response.

Interview Questions
  • Describe a time where you had to deal with an irate client? How do you handle the situation and what was the result?

Interview over the phone with 3 people and each one asks you a question. I think it was like a total of 5-6 questions. That was the only interview soon after that I received an offer letter.

Basically I had two interviews. The first internet was okay for me but the second one was a little harder because I had to really dig deep into my experience and not just think about my most recent position held. Leadership really do their due diligence in choosing the right people for their team.
