I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shell (New York, NY) in Nov 2019
Interview
applied online. logical reasoning and verbal reasoning tests, then was invited to hirevue interview consisting of 5 questions- why shell, a time you supported otheres in a group, a time you needed to gain team members commitment, a time you had to handle a difficult situation, a time you asked for feedback and why. two days after I finished hirevue interview, I was told I passed. final assessment consists of two sections. in the first section I gave a 5min presentation based on 28-page case study document sent me previously to review. followed by a 40 min or longer follow-up questions regarding to the case study (too long for me, can't even remember). assessors are nice and kept pushing me to get answers. the second section has a few competency questions- a time you made a mistake, a time you faced a setback, a time you led a team to achieve sth, a time you had to be very sensitive with people you dealt with. any questions for us.
it's a difficult interview.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Shell (Singapore)
Interview
The interview process focses on behavioral assessments and technical screenings. Candidates are tested on the "CAR" method, focusing on safety, leadership, and on job competence through structured and in depth questions.
The first round is a recorded video interview. You need to record some videos based on their questions. There were 3 questions or me, which is not very unique. About your project, your interest in Shell.
I recently completed a video interview on HireVue, and the overall experience was pretty interesting. The platform presented a large number of psychological assessment questions along with several prompts focused on workplace morality and ethical decision-making. I appreciated that HireVue allowed unlimited time to record and re-record my video responses, which took a lot of the pressure off and made the process feel more flexible and less rushed.
Each portion of the interview was fairly in-depth and required thoughtful answers, so it ended up taking around 30 minutes per section. The combination of the structured assessments and the freedom to redo videos made the entire interview feel thorough but manageable.
