HIGHLIGHTS
• Authentic conversations with top leadership — open-minded, collaborative, well-motivated, and ambitious
• Substantive discussions on how I could drive and help shape strategy
• Efficient, clearly structured process — they laid out expectations up front and stuck to them
PROCESS
Three 30-minute interviews over ~2 weeks:
1. Business Analyst: Gentle intro / screener / vibe check — roughly “tell me about yourself” + “get to know Resonance”
2. Engineering Leadership + BA: More intense — their three lead cybersecurity engineers probed deeply (unsurprisingly). Tip: make a bold claim and back it up — as an early-stage startup, they need gutsy people who can think on their feet.
3. CEO + Head of Platform: Presentation plus discussion expanding on round 2 themes
OVERALL
Thorough but not onerous interview process — offered real insight into their culture, vision, and values.

Interview
Filled out application through LinkedIn and contacted shortly after by Charles Dray (CEO) for a screening call with their Business Analyst.
That was a great conversation which was followed up by a request to fill out a candidate spreadsheet via email (which I did) and a statement to "feel free to try out the PulseCheck feature on our website".
While I probably should have done that, it was at EOQ and EOY and just didn't get a chance. I wake up to see a passive aggressive message from Charles...
"We’re still waiting for you to complete the steps we requested.
Are you having second thoughts completing the Pulse Check assessment Grace asked you to complete? It was even in the invite.
We expect candidates to take the initiative and show an interest in the company’s free products.. we prefer not to have to remind a candidate several times. If you don’t want to complete it, thats fine too."
A) This is the first reminder, it was not several times.
B) The link originally sent didn't even take me to their PulseCheck page, it led to a sign up page that wasn't even functional.
C) I sent him two follow up messages from the initial call where he could have politely reminded me (I thought those follow ups showed initiative)
D) A few minutes after after messaging him that the link didn't work, he had his analyst email me that they would be moving on because I didn't complete the 'required' assignment.
Overall - this was a poor experience with someone who clearly has narcissistic tendencies. I have worked for people that message like this and, trust me, you will never succeed. Everything bad will be your fault, everything great will be due to their work. You'll end up being out in 6-12 months, just like the last person that had this role at Resonance.
