I was contacted via their in-house recruiter in late 2018 and initially replied that I wasn't fielding new opportunities at the moment. However, this didn't stop the same recruiter from sending me the same e-mail weekly for the month or so following the initial e-mail. Interesting.....
In early 2019, I was contacted again. Since I was in the process of talking to a couple other companies, I had agreed to speak to the recruiter via a phone screen. The recruiter and I had a pretty in-depth conversation about my previous job experience, and seemed to understand what career aspirations were. From the conversation, it appeared that there wasn't quite a fit for what I was looking for vs the current positions they had posted. However, the main action item from our conversation was for the recruiter to follow up with the hiring manager and see if there could potentially be a fit. This isn't out of the ordinary, as my current position manifested itself this way as well.
A couple days after the phone screen, the recruiter attempted to schedule another phone interview. I enquired about the context of the phone screen and was told that it was an interview for one of the open SDET positions. I then asked about the action item with the hiring manager, as I didn't want to start interviewing for a role I wasn't interested in and they simply stopped responding. I did follow up a couple times, but didn't receive any responses from those messages either.
What I thought was a good conversation was simply thrown away immediately to get me into the interview pipeline. Seems like the recruiters focus is just to get as many people into the interview process. Once I started asking for clarification and additional details, I was simply ghosted by the in-house recruiter. How professional!
