To conclude: Don't waste your time on that assignment. The entire interview process is just ridiculous. I passed the first round and moved on to the assignment. The guidance was simple and straightforward so I spent a week to come up with a proposal and prepared for the presentation. I was rejected in around a week saying that the assignment did not meet their expectation and didn't give me a chance to present either. However, the other dept was interested in my experience and requested another round of interview. I checked with the recruiter three times about the Japanese fluency requirement since it's listed in JD, but the recruiter guaranteed that it wouldn't be a problem and the interview would be in full English. Therefore, I did another round. During the interview, the interviewer shot a question in Japanese out of no where... I replied that I understood the question but could not respond in Japanese fluently, then somehow it became the deal breaker.
Why bothered giving an interview if you already knew the candidate cannot meet the language requirement??
