      Pre-Press Operator Interview

      9 Nov 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Lakewood, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PRINT NW (Lakewood, WA) in Oct 2021

      Interview

Interviewed two times in a row back-to-back with HR and Senior Pre Press Operator separately. HR was late to the interview and greeted me with a handshake...zero covid awareness demonstrated right off the bat. Print NW is absolutely not running covid safe. HR interviewed me in an inadequately ventilated tiny closed door office. I observed throughout the facility that none of the on-sight staff were wearing masks. Process took 2 whole hours, far too long for a prepress interview of this size print operation. To be honest I should have left after the initial impression was gathered and upon seeing HR's working conditions. Building conditions were overall antiquated and unkept. Was not allowed the opportunity to see prepress working area even after such a long interview process with the Senior Prepress Operator. I did not get an offer but would not have accepted an offer here due to covid precautionary adherence and not being allowed to see workstations. Also a noteworthy red flag both interviewers kept talking about this place being a family, and having a family feel. That's essentially code for expect pizza parties over livable wages. No. Thank. You. On a positive note the interviewers were nice, that's something.

Hello, Our entire front office staff is fully vaccinated and we are following all mandated COVID protocols above and beyond requirements. The offices are all incorporated into our HVAC system, which is designed for strong ventilation so we can keep our employees using hazardous chemicals safe. In the future, we are always happy to do tours of the facility for potential staff prior to offer acceptance upon request, however we do strongly limit the amount of non-employees that go through our building as part of our COVID response. Finally, we absolutely pay all of our employees over livable wages - that is part of being a family-oriented atmosphere and one key reason why our retention is so high. I appreciate the feedback and will take it into consideration in the future.
