I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at PNC Financial Services Group (Pittsburgh, PA) in Nov 2010
Interview
Drove to Pittsburgh for pre-interview cocktail style reception the night before the interview day. All candidates were able to mingle with current PNC employees from all over (FL, DC, Philadelphia, etc.) to get a better understanding of the track being interviewed for. Semi-informative, although some of the current staff representatives weren't all that enthusiastic. The following morning, the interns walked over to the bulding that we were interviewing in. PNC seemed to have rented out the floor of a random building, so we never actually visited the PNC offices to scout out the environment. We were given a rotational schedule for the remainder of the day. Each candidate went through about 3-4 different sessions with a panel of 2 PNC representatives conducting the interview each session. Some sessions were more difficult than others, some technical and some were more conversational. All in all, this was extremely inconsistant and not as planned out as one would expect. Continental breakfast and a boxed lunch were provided, although not enough seating The interview process went from around 8am-2pm, so the day was pretty exhausting. All in all, not very impressed with the organization of the process. Wasn't offered a position, although I don't think I would have taken it after getting a taste with the companies way of doing things.

After completing a HireVue interview, I participated in two additional interview rounds. Both interviews were friendly and conversational, with straightforward questions focused on my background, experience, and interest in the role.

Interview
I heard back quickly after applying from a campus recruiter. We had an interview by phone, then I was invited to a super day in person interview. At the super day, you interacted with former interns while you waited, then interviewed with two senior employees. Within two weeks, I heard back about the offer.
