I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Newport Beach, CA) in Apr 2010
Interview
They call back almost everyone just so they can have a bigger selection pool. The first is a group information session. After the group interview, you talk with the recruiter to discuss about an interview. The first interview consists of creating a presentation on Powerpoint about why you want to work for Northwestern Mutual. After that, they give you a packet which you must complete. It consists of "surveys" with family/friends personal information, and other handouts to "analyze your market." Finally, after that is a final interview. The span of all of this took almost two months due to lack of communication on the recruiter's end. I had to continually send follow-ups.
Very kind people, genuinely want you to be there. Both first and second round interviews were really pleasant and gave descriptions about what job would look like. They did cancel my interview twice, once for a golf tournament, but good interviewing experience.
The interview process is really laidback. Someone will contact you to get the interview process started. It is only behavioral questions and then the interviewer will describe the position in further detail.

Interview
Meet with a recruiter for initial interview and then have another second round interview to filter down candidates. All done over zoom or teams and similar to most other interviews in the field.
