The hiring process was very slow. I applied in December and heard back about 20 days later. The manager emailed to explain that they were closed for the holidays and would begin reviewing resumes in early January.
After that, I received an email to schedule a phone call to discuss the position. During the call, the manager primarily outlined the details of the job — including several of the challenges — and asked if I was still interested after hearing everything. I confirmed that I was.
We then scheduled an in-person panel interview with HR, the General Manager, and the Sous Chef. The interview felt very structured and somewhat impersonal. Each person had a prepared list of questions and took notes as I answered. It felt more like a formal interrogation than a conversation. Some of the questions, such as “Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you fixed it,” felt overly basic given my 20+ years of experience.
It has now been about 20 days since the interview, and I have not received any follow-up communication.
