Applied and messaged the team directly
a few days later i got contacted by a recruiter who wanted to talk to me about my experience. so i explained a little bit about myself and my past work. it was a fairly standard HR screen. I got rejected shortly after that, but only after I asked for an update.
not sure where it went wrong, but i guess they were looking for someone more experienced.
45 minute structured interview with hiring manger, written report on a managed investment product (timed) and final stage is 20 minute presentation of a investment product with questions from interview panel of 3 people in the Chicago office

Fund pitch was part of the interview process. The HR would give you a fund and give you three days to prepare for your fund pitch. They ask you to prepare a deck, but don't tell you what format this fund pitch will need to be in, and so you are pretty much free to do whatever.
