Interview
Submitted application the beginning of August 2011.
Called in for interview around the 20th.
Called in for training that weekend.
Only consisted of one interview.
Keep in mind i originally applied for a seasonal position but was offered a part time non-seasonal position.
I researched the company values and ideals.
I made sure to talk to these points during the interview.
The interviews are done by various managers(usually non-sales managers)
Make sure you keep your self organized and insure you can answer situational questions.
interviewer kept to the most common interview questions. nothing out of the ordinary.
The place where the interview takes place is hidden upstairs in a back corner. i had to wait a little while for the interviewer to show up. as this is a retail environment you must expect occasional delays.
the atmosphere is/was generally upbeat and friendly.
i could hear other managers joking around in the next room.

Describe a situation where you were forced to deny a customer's request?
The retail environment often requires you to deal with difficult or explosive situations. Give an example of when you were in such a situation and how you handled it.

Interviewer was great, Maria. She's been in the business for years and knows what she needs for her store to succeed. She gave me a chance in a tough department.

Question 1
What are some examples of you working as a team during high stress situations?
I applied on line for cosmetics and was called for an interview the next day. I talked to 3 different people. They did not explain their role. The interviews were quick (2 minutes each) and unprofessional. No one had actually looked at my resume or commented about my experience. I was made an offer one the spot for another department but they did not elaborate any details such as how hours work, benefits, commission schedule, etc. I asked to see a benefit package and no one could produce one. They said it would be available online when I qualify. This should have been red flag enough to pass.

Interview
i got an email a few days after asking me to go online and pick a day for the interview. The next available date was about two weeks later. the interview was at 2. I arrived at the office around 1:30 and signed in and gave the paper to the secretary. After about an hour she notified me that the interview was at the other macys building. So i ended up almost two hours late.
