      Educational Content Specialist Interview

      2 Oct 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Montreal, QC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at L'Oréal (Montreal, QC) in Sept 2024

      Interview

I received an email from HR to do a virtual email. During the interview, they explained the responsibilities of the job and that it was a contract position to replace someone on maternity leave. However, there would be an opportunity to stay with the company afterwards. The interviewer was impressed with my competencies and experience and even mentioned he would advance my profile forward for two positions that I would be qualified for. His enthusiasm was deceiving, as a week went by before I heard back from him. Once I did, he said that the department did not select my profile to move forward. From my interview, I understood that I had moved forward and that the next steps would be an interview with the direct manager. It’s unfortunate that there seems to be a lack of transparency with the hiring process. How come all of a sudden was I no longer qualified? During the interview, I spoke with HR in a mix of English and French, but, mostly English as he mentioned it was okay if I was more comfortable. However, he did say that he has “never seen the department hire anyone that only speaks English.” It makes me question if my profile was rejected because I am an anglophone.
