They started with asking me to describe my resume, all the project thoroughly with a bit of cross-questioning in between. After that they started asking questions from the theory of Python and SQL (advanced theory from both). Then they moved on to coding tasks which involved Python codes related to basics, advanced SQL and then DSA to end it.

      Data Engineer Interview

      10 Mar 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at KPI Partners in Feb 2023

      Interview

First call with the recruiter went well, along with the call with his manager. Both the recruiter and the manager were professional and super helpful. That's where the pros ended. I was asked to join a video call for the next round and the following ensued: 1) The Director I was supposed to speak with, was struggling with getting the Zoom meeting to work. We had to reschedule several times using multiple different links to finally meet. This alone is fine as technical difficulties happen but combined with the rest of my experience... shows a true lack of professionalism. 2) Asking obscure questions that have the correct ring words from the job description but do not make any sense given the context and the information given. 3) Accusing the candidate of being a 'Ringer' (had to look up what this word meant) for another candidate due to there being slight haptic lag due to Zoom latency issues. 4) Accusing the candidate of not really having real experience without getting into the weed-works or providing any meaningful insight. ("I have been in the industry myself for over 10 years and you can't believe the number of liars I've encountered") 5) A general "I am better than thou" attitude. Maybe they receive a lot of desperate candidates and think that they can get away with this unprofessional behavior but I sensed racist/discriminatory vibes at times.

      Interview questions [5]

      Question 1

"How do you do data warehousing?"
      Answer question

      Question 2

      "Is someone speaking for you?
      Answer question

      Question 3

"Your video is not matching up with what you're saying, are you sure you aren't someone else?"
      Answer question

      Question 4

"Are you sure you're not just a script kid that just makes changes here and there?" (After asking for clarification regarding a ring-word type question that made little to no sense)
      Answer question

      Question 5

"How would you design a data pipeline"
      Answer question
