Automated coding screener questions were very good, not the usual LeetCode garbage. Was practical and each level built upon the previous. Was one of the worst "Conversational" stage interviews I’ve had the displeasure of being part of though. The interviewer didn’t seem to care about my answers other than when I floundered one and was asked to give another example. There was generally no follow-on questions, or diving into further conversation - it was just rapid fire questions being clearly read from a list. It felt like they just wanted to get through their list of questions as quickly as possible. I was not given an “opportunity to share more about your technical contributions throughout your career” as detailed in the preparation email. Was all behavioral-like questions with some technical trivia. Very different than what was advertised!
Difficult interview
Application
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Justworks
Interview
There was definitely confusion from the beginning here. The initial email from a hiring manager linked to a job description for a Ruby developer. During my first interview with the hiring manager I was told the job would involve more Java and Python. During my tech interview I was told the job was for Ruby, however the developer I was interviewing with was told my language of choice for the interview was Python. All in all a little weird.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Leetcode question. They ask you to traverse a binary tree in various directions.
3 rounds, standard HR screen, phone screen, on-site. Relatively low difficulty compared to other companies. The On site consisted of coding questions, a system design question, and a behavioral question.
I applied online. I interviewed at Justworks in Mar 2026
Interview
This company gives a timed exam before even having candidates meet with a recruiter. Unfortunately for them, they will be missing out on excellent candidates with deep experience in favor of good test-takers. If you want to work for a company where the emphasis is on banging out code as quickly as possible as opposed to thoughtful collaboration, Justworks might be a good fit for you.

A test on Code Signal in a language of your choice.
