I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Jam City (Toronto, ON)
Interview
Met with the studio in person.
Met with 3 different leads. Art lead, Tech lead, and someone higher up. A producer.
Art lead focused on experience, tech lead focused on technical questions, and producer was getting a feel for your character.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Talk through past experiences
- Pass by reference, pass by value example
- Bottlenecks and performance questions
- Not too many algorithm questions more focus on experience
Got contacted by the recruiter, she was friendly and everything. It was an entry level position so i made it clear I didn't have any experience in game development and she reassured me that they were basically looking for someone with a solid coding background so I moved forward. I got scheduled for an interview with a Senior who started asking questions about game development until he said that there are candidates with gaming experience that are a better fit. It's the well known policy -let's hire someone with experience for an entry level position and salary. What a waste of my time
