      Social Media Strategist Interview

      13 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at IntraLink Global

      Interview

It was one of the most dysfunctional, rushed processes I have ever experienced. When I spoke with the CEO, she indicated that she "liked" me and asked me questions totally unrelated to the position (like client load and whether I went to business school). It felt rushed, as if she hadn't prepared. (Later determined that she had not done her due dilgence on me). Later that day (approximately 4:00 pm), their director asked if I could perform a "writing exercise" either later that night or the next morning "the latest" I opted for the next morning, and it consisted of writing four posts for one of their clients. (Actual client materials were given - no "imaginary client" or "base it on a brand". I turned it in, and having checked my research...realized that this wouldn't be a fit. Five pm that following Monday - get a call from the CEO from her phone (I can hear the window wipers in the background) where she offers me the job at a good rate. I ask how long I have to make a decision...24 hours. She mentions that I'm a great candidate, but they have "other candidates waiting for the job". After we finished our call, she texted me an hour later to ask to meet her in person the next day because the offer came as a "surprise" to me. She also mentioned how she "trusted her instincts" and that she had hired people who went onto other, larger companies. (Let's be clear - this is the *first* time there was ever an in-person meeting offered). I ignored the text. Next morning, another text stating that if salary were an issue, that we should talk. I ignored it. Yes, I know this is a long description of their interview process, but with only two Glassdoor reviews, I thought this should be documented (especially since the position, as of this writing, is still online)
