I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (Seattle, WA) in Jul 2018
Interview
Applied online for position in Seattle. Received an email about a week or so later from the RC and scheduled my phone interview with the recruiter. Interview with the recruiter was good. She was really energetic and passionate about Instacart. Mostly the recruiter informed me about the role and daily tasks. Interview went well so she sent me a Data Challenge which I had to complete and provide a breakdown of what was going well within store operations, what are the opportunities, and what solution would I provide. I had to create a 3-slide PowerPoint and send it in. One slide was for an overview of performance for all 5 Shift Leads. I had to identify two stores I would focus on for the week and then send an email to the Shift Lead about the store's performance. A week later I received feedback that my data analysis was not strong enough for what the Operations Manager/Hiring Manager was looking for. I was told my solutions were confusing and out of scope. I didn't even get the opportunity to present my work. They claim they want to beat Amazon (they literally said that). If they want to beat Amazon, they should reconsider what is "out of scope." I've worked at Amazon before and that's why Amazon is leading the way in multiple sectors of business and companies like Instacart can't catch up! Overall, a good interview experience.
I applied online. I interviewed at Instacart in Dec 2021
Interview
the process began with an email request to schedule a phone call (intro to company discussion of experience, expectations, questions, challenges. following the call would be a video interview including several rounds of one on one and or group interviews.

Question 1
describe a difficult situation you encountered with a customer
Phone interview followed by a data set analysis challenge. Very straight forward and easy. I wasn’t selected, and in the email the recruiter stated if I wanted any feedback to let her know. I reached out (I like learning what my weaknesses are, what they didn’t like, etc.) She never bothered to respond back. Poor look on the company.

Does the job description sound like something you’d like doing?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (Atlanta, GA) in Oct 2019
Interview
They were super friendly and helpful all throughout. Very standard "marketplace" process (e.g. Uber, Instacart, DoorDash). The steps were 1) recruiter phone screen, 2) take-home exercise (24 hours, they give you a dataset), 3) interview with the hiring manager (talked about my experience, a behavioral question, and a small case-like question), 4) interview panel with 5 people.
