Interview
Basically, a candidate should present 2 interviews (technical and HR). Is very common to present the technical interview first. They ask the basic questions of optical effects as dispersion, attenuation, PMD etc. Also, a trivial understanding of capacity units is required (E1, STM1-64, Gbps). Finally but most important, they ask the candidate to depict a WDM system.

Interview first with HR for screening, and then onto the hiring manager. Hiring manager is more on technical questions while HR handles the usual questions. With regards to the interview questions asked by hiring manager .

Interview
I was first called by HR and had a phone interview about my background (education, family, work experience, etc). I had the technical interview the same week where we discussed about the role and their experiences on it. They also gave different scenarios and asked what I would do in those scenarios.
