      Sales Associate II Interview

      17 Jan 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Brandon, MB
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Home Depot Canada (Brandon, MB) in Mar 2012

      Interview

asked many questions regarding sales. not about the specific department. They didnt care which department i was going to go in, as long as I passed their qualifications to be an associate in the first place. It was mostly ability to get out of a tough situation and deal with troublesome customers.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The big question was: if there's some flooring ( you know nothing about flooring) that a customer asks about, how do you get information about the flooring? Every time you give an option about how you would get the information, that option is removed and you have to think of another idea. for example if you said: " I would read the box first." well sorry, there is no box, try again. " I would ask someone." sorry, your the only person in the store. "I would check online." Sorry, internet's down. The idea is to see how many different ways you can work around adversity.

      Brampton, ON
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Home Depot Canada (Brampton, ON) in Feb 2013

      Interview

Depending on the time of the season, there will be different ways to apply. Usually you apply online through job banks or through their site directly. Most stores will have a hiring day/week depending on the amount of workforce they need to fill for the spring/summer. You hand in your application and resume (cover letter is a bonus) and wait for that specific's store human resource manager to contact you for a phone interview. Very easy questions usually related to past experiences you have related to sales or any outside experience that you may posess that applies to a specific department (plumbing, electrical, building materials). After a week or two you recieve another phone call to come in and meet with a manager to answer a few more questions. If they like what they see, you hear back from them and sign the employment papers with the Store Manager and begin your training. The actual hiring process lasts from 1-4 weeks depending on how much they require individuals.

If you saw a fellow associate being disrespectful to a customer, how would you deal with that situation.
