      UI Designer Interview

      9 Jun 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Remote, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Hearst (Remote, OR) in Mar 2015

      Interview

The interview was for a remote position with a trial period involved. The VP of Engineering interviewed me over Skype, everything went well up to that point. We established a date for me to start working and when that date came I heard nothing from them. I contacted the VP of Engineering to see what's going on and it turns out that he decided to delay my trial for some more time because of some team restructuring issues and I didn't get informed of this right until my start date. They said they would contact me a couple of weeks later when they solved their team issues but they never contacted me again. I understand that jobs get cancelled due to various reasons like budget cuts and team restructuring but I think telling a job candidate that the job was cancelled at the last minute reeks of unprofessionalism.
