I was introduced to this company through a network connection and had multiple meetings (about 5?) with the founder, which initially seemed promising. However, the hiring process was poorly managed and disrespectful.
As an experienced institutional portfolio manager with significant assets under management, I was expecting a more professional and respectful approach. Unfortunately, the founder's requests for strategic suggestions, backtesting, and extending my open-source work without any compensation or clear indication of interest in hiring me were excessive.
After multiple meetings and discussions, including sharing potential strategies and a roadmap for future plans, there was complete radio silence for a month. The lack of communication and follow-up was disappointing and unprofessional.
Given the lack of respect for my time and expertise, I'm no longer interested in the role. The experience has left a negative impression, and I would caution others to be wary of the company's hiring practices.
