I was recruited (probably through LinkedIn) because I had particular experience and skills sought by GF. After taking to a recruiter, I spoke with the hiring manager on the phone and then flew in for on-site interviews.

So... It was a while ago but whole thing was a sham! At that time manager could not even keep 1st interview appointment and I had to call them to reschedule. Should have paid attention to the signs, huh?
