      Claims Representative Interview

      2 Jul 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Fredericksburg, VA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at GEICO (Fredericksburg, VA) in Jul 2018

      Interview

Applied online and received a email inviting me to set up a phone interview for my earliest convenience. The phone interview was very basic, asking past job experience, why i left jobs, if i was okay with the starting annual pay, if they called a previous employer, how many times would they say i was late or called out whthout notice, explained that they are a 24/7 365 day of the year company and asked i i had any issue with working holidays and weekends, etc. the phone interview only lasted about 10-15 minuets and at the end she said that she would like to move me forward to the next step. She set up a day for me to come in and complete a typing/ multitasking test. Explained that they were business casual and not to wear sneakers or jeans. I then received a email confirming my interview date and the address. On the day of my interview i arrived 15 minuets early, checked in with HR and waited about 15 minuets. Me and 2 others were brought back to a computer in a small room, the front desk lady read off this paper explaining the test and asked if we had any questions. After that we logged into a computer and the test began. The test is broken into 3 parts, and each part is considered a “work shift” as a insurance agent. -The first part was about 8 minuets long and explained the whole system you would be working with. After explaining the computer system you would be working with, it let you click around and get familiar with it. - You then had a practice session. After this “shifts” you had two actual “shifts” that are the graded part of the test. -The way the system is set up, on the left you receive phone quirys and email quirys, when they first pop up on the left, you will see a 60 second timer that counts down for how long you have to click on and enter the info from each one. It will tell you it’s either a claim, sale, or service quiry, you will see each of those tabs located at the top of the computer. You click the tab that is for your incoming quiry. Then you have 3 sub- catagories and this is where you enter the info either given to you on the phone ( a recording played through headphones ) or a email which pops up when you click on the quiry. When given the information on the phone, it will NOT be in the order that you need to enter it, making it much harder. So listen closely or take more email quirys if possible. Once you listen to the phone quiry, it’s gone and if you miss info you can’t relisten to it. If you miss any information on any quirys, submitting a partly done form is better then not submitting at all. - After that portion of the test, you have a typing test which you read from a paragraph above your typing box and just type the paragraph as fast and ACCURATELY as possible. You do these two steps twice and then the test is done. The HR person will come back in and play a video for 15 while they get your results. After the video i waited about 5-10 more minuets and then was brought back to the office and unfortunately told my score didn’t pass for the position but to try back in 6 months. Overall the test wasn’t too difficult and will definitely be easier a second time around.
