      Product Owner Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at EBizCharge (Irvine, CA) in Oct 2025

      Interview

I was contacted by an internal recruiter via LinkedIn who wanted to gauge my interest in the role. After a brief exchange, we scheduled a ~30-minute video call to discuss the company, position, and expectations in more detail. Stage 1 – Recruiter Screening This initial conversation covered the company overview, role scope, and next steps. The recruiter was professional and responsive throughout. Stage 2 – Hiring Manager Interview Later that week, I had a ~30-minute video interview with the Hiring Manager. The discussion went deeper into the team’s structure, product roadmap, and expectations around managing multiple initiatives. Stage 3 – Onsite Interview (Irvine, CA) The following week, I was invited onsite for a more comprehensive session that included: A quick office tour A 15-minute math/logic test (50 questions — difficult to complete in time) Two personality assessments A 1-minute typing test (on their laptop with a less-than-ideal keyboard) After the assessments, I met with the Hiring Manager and two team members for about an hour. They asked thoughtful questions about my background and approach to Agile delivery, though the conversation felt a bit rushed toward the end, leaving limited time for my questions. Follow-Up I was told to expect a decision by the end of the week. When I hadn’t heard back, I later learned leadership was out of office and that feedback would come the following week. It ultimately took two weeks to receive a final update — a standard rejection email stating they were pursuing other candidates. Overall Impression The process was structured and professional overall, though somewhat lengthy for a hybrid PO/SM/BA role. Based on discussions, the expected offer range was around $130K base salary with 10 days PTO, which feels on the lower end considering the scope — multiple global products, expanding roadmaps, and existing bottlenecks that will require strategic leadership to resolve. If you’re interviewing here, I’d recommend preparing for several assessments and clarifying compensation, expectations, and workload early in the process.
