The role I applied for had been listed online for several months before I applied. First zoom interview went really well and resulted in the second interview (in-person). This interview was interesting. It was panel style and the team was all friendly. The setting wasn’t ideal, but I think they were remodeling? I was sitting on some kind of ottoman floor seat and their team sat in training desks, some even at the kitchen island. Having everyone (quite literally) looking down on you because you’re sitting uncomfortably at ground level was…nerve racking and awkward. What I found challenging about the interview was that half way through the interview, an additional person joined and started the interview over again. I understood the logic of this person needing to ask these questions, but I would have thought another team member could have filled in this person after. It felt disorganized from start to finish and only one person in the interview seemed engaged in our interview. It may have been an off day, they were all very busy, or knew they weren’t interested in hiring me the moment I arrived - but I left that interaction wondering if this interview was a preview of how they worked as a team. I hope it was just my singular interaction and I was simply not the right fit.
