Initial phone interview with Director of Business Unit
Interview related to high level skills and experience and general discussion about the role and the organisation. This went very well.
This was followed by Phone interview with incumbent individual who was taking up new role.
This was again a brief generic discussion about my skills and experience and how it fits with the role.
This was followed by face to face with said individual who I got the impression would be working in a supervisory capacity at least initially.
I was asked to bring in demos and examples of recent technical work to demo on a laptop.
Almost all of the interview was focused on the applications demo'd . The interactions and conversations were quite pleasant, but overall, it felt quite strange and awkward as I got the impression of the demo being a examination / evaluation with everything being scrutinised.
I was under the impression that the role i was interviewing for was a senior advisory / SME role which would encompass oversight and development of the overall enterprise wide BI deployment - following on from the interview, I understood the role to be more about equal parts - lower level day to day management of ETL processes in SQL , and maintaining and developing existing BI applications.
