    Interview

Around 2 months after I submitted my resume for Apple software engineer position, I got a call from the hiring manager. He asked me what was the good day for the interview. It took half day for meeting 5 people. It was long hour interview for me. Each interviewer spent ~ 30 minutes and asked ~ 4 questions. Each interviewer asked questions in the different areas.

    Interview Questions

    • The most difficult area is they asked me very broad areas of what I done in software engineering. Fortunately I got help from interview professional from Interviews Question (www.interviewsquestion.com) before I came for the interview. So prepared very well, there was almost no questions I could not answer. If I did not get help from Interviews Question, I could be failed.   3 Answers

    Interview

Interview was very casual and friendly. Interviewer mainly wanted to know what I thought about Apple products, as well as other tech products I used, and how I would improved them. They seemed to want to understand how I think more than anything else.

    Interview

Very experienced interviewers. They asked and talked about detail questions, mostly about optical design, control of hardware, LiDAR systems, time of flight measurement. Each of the interviewer has one specific area of focus, probably based on the project they are doing right now. Looks like apple is making efforts to the autonomous cars and face ID et. al

2 rounds the first year (no offer)
3 rounds the following year (offer)

Interviewers were all very friendly. Process was enjoyable both years. Each year the team got back to me within a few weeks with their decision.

If you don't succeed the first year and you really want to work at Apple, keep in touch and reach out the following year. Show that you have improved yourself over the year in ways that relate to the position. Genuine passion for the specific team is key.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Apple.

    Interview

I was recruited and initially contacted via email. I had a quick call with the recruiter where they gave me some info about the position and team. From there I met with the leader of the team I would be working on, it was a great conversion.

From here I was told they were going to fly me out to the offices in Cupertino, CA (I'm based out of state) and do another few rounds in a span of 2 days. Then Covid hit.

We shifted to more virtual rounds of interviews.

I met with an Art Director who works on a parallel team, that was a great interview. Then I had a group interview with about 6 members of leadership and others on the team. I was given an assignment and had to present to the team followed by a round of questions.

From there I had 2 more interviews with other members of the team. After all of this I was told the process was slowing because of Covid but still optimistic.

I kept in contact with the recruiter and they slowly stoped messaging me back.
