TL;DR: the hiring process is extremely disrespectful. If this is how they treat their job candidates, I doubt that they treat their employees well. The company has left a very negative impression on me.
I applied for the Economist position online. Got an email from the HR asking to provide my availability for an in-person interview; I replied right away. The HR told me to wait until they were finalizing the interview schedule. After that she started ghosting me. A week passed, no updates. I contacted her to confirm the interview logistics, but got a reply that they were "still finalizing" their schedule, and that their schedule was "quite full at the moment", but they were working on opening extra slots and they would contact me ASAP. Two more weeks passed. I contacted the HR one more time, and she said that at the moment they did not have any slots on my preferred day. In fact, all their schedule was full and they were unable to interview me! I asked her why hadn't she told me that my preferred day was completely booked, I would have provided her with more time slots that worked for me. She said that it was normal that not everybody who got invited to an interview actually got an interview. Then why did you invite me in the first place if you were not interested in hiring me? Ridiculous. This was the first time in my life when I was treated with so much disrespect. Can't imagine what's going on in their company. Do not recommend to apply unless you enjoy being humiliated.
