Does US Department of Veterans Affairs offer parental leave?
Pros
Loads of benefits including 12 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave! Support and encouragement to grow and elevate your practice skills and expand practice area. They allow more telework for clinicians than other health systems and other VAs. There is a Union to help protect employees rights which includes clinicians.
Cons
Less flexibility than the private sector (no flex time, less control of schedule), challenges maintaining adequate support staff, new policies and changes come down from Washington DC, without local control or input.
Advice to Management
Focus on workplace policies that foster employee wellness with equal weight to the focus on productivity to retain quality employees.
