What is health insurance like at Talabat?

Pros

It was a really fun environment, there was a lot of potentials to grow but it all depends on who your manager is. The benefits are great, we eat breakfast sometimes, go out for lunch, and great healthcare

Cons

Your growth depends on who your manager is and if HR really cares. Though they do have some values they pretend to care about, it all depends on the local level how its implemented. There are unseen discrimination and biases against women and a lot of times it felt like a boys club, due to the lack of female managers. They are headed towards a different direction, where they hired a female MD in Jordan. But still, so much work to be done. There is no work-life balance as well

Advice to Management

Work-life balance is very important for mental health! Something no one seems to care about in this company! I struggled with being overworked without anyone caring, and in fact, told me this is what's expected and I will be "rewarded" later. There was no reward what so ever.

Does Talabat offer housing assistance?

Pros

- Some employee are among the greatest minds I’ve ever met - Food credit and free breakfast

Cons

- Nepotism: the company is very proud of its “diversity” but in reality managers hire and promote fellow nationals (sometimes from their former company). Urdu and Arabic are as much spoken as English in some departments which indirectly excludes other employees. - Internal politics: your growth entirely depends on your networking skills. HR has no real power and one word from your manager can hold you from a promotion. This has led to a situation where a bunch of incompetent people are placed at strategic positions just because they are well connected. - Gossips and drama: most information circulate through the grapevine and not through official communication channel. You need to be careful about what you’re sharing with who as it can be used against you by some employees eager to climb the professional ladder. - The atmosphere is a gloomy mess, most employees spend their day on Linkedin looking for another opportunity. - Management almost never engages with employees, the only times they do is to shame and blame them for not reaching targets (which become more and more unrealistic month on month). - Bullying: Threatening and depreciating people is very common. Anyone questioning decisions made by management or their team lead will be deemed “culturally unfit” and “not aligned with the values”.

Advice to Management

Stop hiring your friends, ex colleagues or people coming from the same village. Stop running the company like a family grocery shop. Provide real learning and growth opportunities if you really want to retain your workforce. Build an authentic independent HR department.

Does Talabat offer unlimited holiday?

Pros

Learning opportunities Great leadership Amazing work culture Career Growth Personal development

Cons

In a fast paced organization like Talabat, you constantly feel that you have less time and more to accomplish. Initially it takes a lot of effort to organize and manage your time productively, specially being in an Account Manager role. If you fail to manage and organize in first 3 months, you most probably end up with a burnout.

What is the retirement plan like at Talabat?

Pros

The team leadership is so abscent and oblivious that you can skip work 3 days a week if you wanted.

Cons

Its basically a bunch of mates hiring their friends, then spend the days going between meetings pretending what they are saying is of any value. It seems Talabat is basically a retirement plan for certain people. Sadly my description is quite accurate.

Advice to Management

If a team has a consistently high turn over rate then you should remove the management. This is pretty obvious.
